The Mary Smith Scholarship

An annual award dedicated to advancing the educational and career goals of Abbott House employees.

Overview :

In memory of Board Member Mary Smith, Abbott House has established an annual scholarship award program for staff. Two eligible staff members will each receive a $3,000 award to support their educational advancement at approved and accredited institutions of higher learning. Recipients will be selected based on their essay submissions. 

Criteria for Eligibility:

  • Must have completed at least one year of full-time employment at Abbott House.
  • Previous courses taken within the first year of employment will not be reimbursed.
  • Must receive a passing grade to receive reimbursement.
  • Must submit a copy of the school bill.
  • Coursework covered by this program includes undergraduate courses, graduate courses, individual courses and programs that represent a logical program of individual and career development consistent with the activities of Abbott House. Certificate programs will be honored.
  • Established Awardees may not reapply in subsequent years.
