Foster Family with Social Worker

Our Permanency Resource Center (PRC) staff work with adoptive, guardianship and custodial families and children residing in Duchess, Orange, and Westchester Counties. Having a history in foster care is not required, and services are provided free of charge.

Abbott House and the PRC staff is committed to help you:

  • Get the services and resources that you want to meet your child’s educational, physical, social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Build your capacity to address challenges through understanding the impact of trauma on children and their behavior.
  • Promote the safety, stability, and development of family attachments following adoption or legal guardianship.

Call the NYS Kinship Navigator at 877-454-6463. A Kinship Specialist is available Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm - or visit www.nysnavigator.org. It’s all free. The Navigator provides information on financial assistance, legal information and referrals, and other issues that caregivers face when raising children in the absence of their biological parents.
