Today is sad day for the Abbott House family as we mourn the tragic loss of another heroic direct support professional who succumbed to complications from Covid-19.
Each and every staff member at Abbott House gives meaning to our body of work, and although Dwayne was with our agency for just a short time, his ability to connect with individuals in his care instantly earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Dwayne was known to all as a “great guy” who loved his job. He brought help and hope to individuals living at one of our group homes, but his greatest role was that of a proud and dedicated father. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched, especially his children who were his pride and joy. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family and friends during this difficult time.
Dwayne represents so many dedicated staff members at Abbott House, who continue to demonstrate courage in caring for others, even as they grapple with the anxiety of losing one of their own. They are heroes who bravely meet the unprecedented challenges of each day, knowing that so many children, struggling families and adults with developmental disabilities are counting on them to make the difference.
