It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Howard, an individual in our care, who attended the Day Habilitation program at Keon, a program of Abbott House. Despite the extraordinary efforts of compassionate direct-support staff and medical professionals, Howard succumbed to complications from the coronavirus. Howard had a cheerful spirit and was well liked in all of the programs he participated in throughout his 20-year affiliation with the Keon community. He was a “happy guy” and will be remembered in a special way by friends and caring staff who cheered him on in life. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them – and all those who knew and loved him.
Family comes first at Abbott House. With this mind, we want to assure the community and all those in our care that we continue to put all our resources and energy into supporting and protecting the health of each individual we serve. Our intense safety protocols remain in place, and we are closely monitoring the health of our residents, front-line staff and colleagues at all times. In these times of uncertainty and high anxiety, we remain steadfast in our mission to care for the most vulnerable amongst us, and we are grateful to our staff for their continued courage and commitment in doing so.
