Intensive In-Home Preventive Services

The Dutchess County Intensive Preventive In-Home Services program seeks to strengthen and support high risk fragile families known to Dutchess County Children’s Protective Services (CPS) and to avert crises that may cause their children to enter and or re-enter foster care. The primary goal of the program is to strengthen the family by teaching them positive and effective methods to resolve conflicts. The program also empowers parents to continue to provide a safe, stable, nurturing home environment after preventive services have ended.

The program currently has three social workers that work with 24 families at any given time. The social workers are responsible for providing intensive family support and assisting parents in working towards positive goals to enhance child and family well being.

Specific services for this program include:

  • Intensive Case Management
  • Family and Individual Counseling
  • Substance/Alcohol Abuse treatment
  • Educational Advocacy
  • Parent Skills Training
  • Assist family in accessing all needed services in the community
