2022 Honorees:

Troy and Beverly Johnson have been licensed therapeutic foster parents at Abbott House since 2011. Since that time, they have opened their home to 24 children in care at Abbott House, including older teens and some with challenging behavioral issues, including autism. The family has provided children with stability, structure, guidance, positive role models, mentors, and unwavering love and support. Mr. Johnson became a pastor in 2003 and founded Greater Love Deliverance Center in the Bronx, NY, and Greater Love Deliverance Center II in Walden NY. He and his wife Lady Johnson are actively involved in their church fellowship and champions for children in care.

Maren Piersol a Junior at Irvington High School has been an active student volunteer at Abbott House since 2018 when she collected toys for our holiday drive as a Bat Mitzvah service project. During our playground build in 2019, she led children in fun games and activities, but most notably, Maren has emerged as a young leader and team member of our weekly Art program. She shares her time creativity making art with children who reside on our Irvington campus and is committed to making their lives better and brighter through the power of art.

The mission of HOLA is to empower Hispanic associates and allies to thrive both in and out of Capital One while partnering with different not-for-profit organizations to give back to the community. HOLA NE’s members and allies are part of a large contingent of professionals who care deeply about helping each other grow and succeed and band together to support initiatives that empower and support children and underserved populations within their communities. Since 2018, the HOLA Northeast Chapter, led by Marcella Szalai, Oliver Diaz, and Dolores Ramirez Pasini, has supported Abbott House by providing holiday gifts, PPE funding, bikes, and laptops, and remains actively involved in volunteer events that bring hope to all in care.
